MSNBC reports that a few tourists were recently charged with “disrupting public peace” and fined $150 for cycling nude along the Danube River in Serbia, where temperatures have hovered over 100 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees Celcius) for the past week. Seems like a small price to pay for cooling off in such sweltering heat!

June 21 is not only the summer solstice, it’s Naked Hiking Day:

“It’s a celebration of the commencement of summer, an expression of the freedom of being in the midst of nature, and basically an excuse to get naked.”

The holiday is most commonly observed on the Appalachian Trail. Unfortunately, here in New England, it’s a surefire way to get eaten alive by blackflies and mosquitoes.

The first ever “Dancin Naked Under the Stars” clothing-optional music festival will be held this Saturday, May 19, 2007, at the DeAnza Springs Resort in the beautiful California desert. Bands scheduled to perform include Zydeco Patrol, Phat Daddy, Three Day Ole Beaver, 6 Inch Man, and Half Past Zero. Some additional info on the festival can be found at the Nudist Day blog.
